The Birmingham Police Department reports that South Precinct officers have made an arrest in connection with a robbery investigation.  The robbery occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 in George Ward Park.  South Precinct officers were dispatched to investigate a report of a robbery in progress.  Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect had just left the scene on foot. Officers also learned that the suspect forced his way into the victim’s vehicle and took property from her purse as she attempted to leave he park. The victim and suspect engaged in a struggle just before the suspect exited her vehicle. Officers were able to locate the suspect in the 400 block of Delta Street and take him into custody.  There were no injuries in this case.  

The suspect is described as:
Tyrelle Porter, B/M, 19, of Birmingham, Alabama. A Robbery 1st degree warrant has been obtained against the suspect.
 
The suspect is in the custody of the Jefferson County jail.
