BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Cox Media Group (CMG) Birmingham’s WZZK 104.7 home of the Rick and Bubba Show worked with Birmingham Mayor William Bell to find a new home for Rascal Flatts guitarist and harmony singer Joe Don Rooney. Joe Don Rooney’s home, Picher, Oklahoma was dissolved in April 2009 by a vote of its citizens and by June 29, 2009 the Federal government issued the citizens checks so they could move from the city permanently.
“We knew about Joe Don Rooney’s hometown and since he is the most famous graduate from Picher High School and Rascal Flatts is beloved in Birmingham we thought we would offer him a new home in our great city” said Program Director, Justin Case.
Joe Don Rooney was presented with the proclamation from Mayor William Bell at the concert at the BJCC where she was performing with Sara Evans and Hunter Hayes.
