BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Brown Mackie College has opened the school system’s first Alabama location and classes began April 4. Brown Mackie College – Birmingham has a different spin from the traditional career college. Cincinnati-based Brown Mackie offers one course per month, with students having the option of meeting four hours three days a week or six hours twice a week, said Roger Rocha, Birmingham campus president. “We are unique in that we allow students to focus on one class at a time," Rocha said. The Birmingham campus is the school's 26th lo��fcation in 19 states. The school offers Bachelor of Science degrees in business administration, health care management and legal studies. Associate degrees are offered in accounting technology, architectural design and drafting, graphic design, medical assistants, information technology, health care administration and surgical technology. A subsidiary of Pittsburgh-based EDMC, the school is located in the former Vulcan Life building at 105 Vulcan Road just off Oxmoor Road in Homewood.
