The Birmingham Police Department has reported that a traffic fatality occurred on Interstate 59 South at the Interstate 65 intersection. The fatality occurred on Thursday January 28, at approximately 9:35 p.m. Accident investigators believe the victim attempted to cross the interstate on foot when he was struck by a vehicle. Witnesses state a dark colored Honda SUV struck the victim and never slowed down or stopped. The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue. The victim has been identified as: Curtis Davenport, B/M, 54, of 437 14th Court North, Birmingham, Alabama. The suspect vehicle is believed to have damage to the front end as well as the side.
