The Metro Birmingham Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will sponsor a Birmingham Mayoral Candidates Forum on Friday, December 04, 2009 at the Jackson-Olin High School located at 1300 Avenue F Birmingham, AL 35218 starting at 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The event will be televised on Bright House Cable Channel 4. Metro Branch President Mr. Hezekiah Jackson IV selected Attorney Juandalynn Givan and Major Click to moderate the forum. Both are political contributors for the Birmingham View which airs on MY 68. Givan and Click were tapped by Jackson to moderate the forum “to further demonstrate the NAACP’s commitment to promoting equality diversity while bringing about a fresh prospective to political, social, economic and educational dynamics that continue to plague the citizens of Birmingham and the Country” said Jackson. Givan and Click a politically savvy team with a chemistry that resonates to the viewers during their roundtable discussions. Givan received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Miles College in, and her Doctorate of Juris Prudence from the Miles School of Law. She is the Owner of Givan & Associates Law Firm. Most recently she expanded her practice to include governmental relations and program management consulting services. She is also a mentor and public speaker. Upon graduating from Miles she became a Political Appointee serving as an Administrative Cabinet Member to Birmingham ’s first African American Mayor. Dr. Richard Arrington Jr., where she was responsible for Capital Projects and Development in the City Center estimated at over $200 million. She also served as HOPE VI Coordinator for the Housing Authority of the Birmingham District HOPE VI Revitalization Projects at Metropolitan Gardens and Tuxedo Court. Click is a native of Birmingham, AL. He attended John Carroll High School and subsequently graduated from Chelsea High School, followed by his study of political science at the University of South Alabama in Mobile. He served as a volunteer in the 1992 Clinton-Gore campaign. Click has worked as a federal contractor for HUD over the past three years. In this capacity, he strives to ensure affordable housing for all the people of Alabama. |
