The Birmingham Police Department reports that accident investigators are conducting a fatal hit and run accident. The incident occurred on Monday, July 30, 2012 at approximately 9 p.m. at Cherry Avenue and Bankhead Highway. The victim has been identified as: Roy Weissenbach, W/M, 48, of Birmingham, Alabama. Accident investigators from the Crash Reconstruction Unit responded to the incident location to investigate a report of a person struck by a vehicle. Officers arrived to find the victim unresponsive. Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived and pronounced the victim deceased. The driver of the vehicle that struck the victim failed to stop at the scene. The suspect’s vehicle has been described as: 2003-2007 gold Honda Accord. The vehicle has damage to the left front and left side.
