New York Giants Cornerback, Brian Witherspoon will be hosting the Spoon29 Foundation’s 1st Annual Youth Football Camp. Devoted to philanthropy, the Spoon29 Foundation seeks to maximize potential while celebrating dreams through recreational community endeavors. Originally from Alabama, Brian Witherspoon is the second athlete from Butler and the first from Stillman College to enter into the NFL. Having a devastating start to his NFL season with a torn ACL two years in a row, Witherspoon is no stranger to overcoming obstacles and wishes to instill the traits of persistence and endurance in those around him. This is his motivation to promote success for the youth living in his community. The 1st Annual Spoon29 Foundation Youth Football Camp (S29FYFC) will take place at Choctaw County High School where Witherspoon attended and graduated. The football camp is free of charge to high school student athletes in Choctaw County and the surrounding area. True to its mission and goals, the S29FYFC hopes to make its football workshop a premier non-contact camp for youth in the Choctaw County area. S29FYFC will emphasize sportsmanship, commitment, teamwork, discipline, dedication, and a positive work ethic – which are all essential to succeed both on and off the field! In addition to the football camp, Choctaw County High School football players will be invited to participate with Witherspoon in “A Brush with Kindness,” a partnership with Habitat for Humanity (Meridian, Miss.) which includes exterior home preservation service. Volunteers will be given an opportunity to paint, landscape, and offer minor repair services for homeowners in need. “A Brush with Kindness” ensures that families live in safe and well-maintained homes and is designed to refurbish the appearance of the neighborhood and encourage community connections. S29FYFC is scheduled for Saturday July 14th with registration starting at 8a.m. The football camp will begin at 9 a.m. and will continue until 1 p.m. Following the completion of camp, the community outreach “A Brush with Kindness” will begin promptly at 3 p.m. and will continue until 7 p.m. In order to register to participate, visit https://www.wepay.com/events/2012s29fyfc or contact us at 1-855-994-7687 ext. 822.
